Evangelist Cherrylean Givens a native of Saginaw, Michigan is an anointed woman of God and is known as a servant who consistently demonstrates an unselfish heart, a love for people, and a will to continue to put others needs before her own.
Evangelist Givens is the daughter of the late Pastor Tom Johnson Sr., and Mother Velma Ruth Johnson. She is the wife of Superintendent Jerry L. Givens Sr., who has served as the Senior Pastor of Prayer Garden COGIC in Flint, Michigan for the past 22 years, the District Superintendent of the Charles Harrison Mason Memorial District for the past 8 years, and the Executive Secretary of the North Central Jurisdiction of Michigan for the past 7 years where Bishop Herbert J. Williams is the Jurisdictional Prelate and Mother Corene Wade- Adams is the Jurisdictional Supervisor. She is the mother of three daughters, Anna Marie (Anthony), Latonya Geneva, and Erica Ruth (Melvin); also one son Jerry Jr. (Joy). She loves her grandchildren and they’re multiplying by the years. They are: Ebony, Jasmine, Purvis, Diamond, Keshaun, Elijah, Jada, Melvin, and Jordan.
Missionary Givens is a dual graduate of Mott Community College of Flint, MI. She is also a 2009 graduate of Ashford University obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Social Science with an Education Concentration. Currently, Cherry is pursuing her Masters Degree in Special Education with an expected graduation date of October 2010.
In 2000, she started her own business “The Given Tree Daycare.” Her purpose was to help low-income, single mothers and families who could not afford to pay high-priced daycare expenses. She provided an atmosphere for parents to be able to afford to have their children in a safe, Christian, Montessori, structured environment.
Teaching the naked truth, while administering the love of Jesus is her middle name. She frequently mentors the young ladies and shows them by precept and example how to be a good wife to their husbands, a mother to their children, and a woman of God who exemplifies Jesus in their everyday lives. She is a strong supporter of the visionary of the church and his vision for the work. She supports the women’s work; locally, district, and jurisdictionally. She uses her influence to encourage the women to support leadership and to work in harmony and agreement with them. She is one who believes in being fair and making sure that her life along with others who works with her reflects the image of Christ.

Mother Givens has been anointed to reach people and trained by God to teach, and mentor young women. She is a mother to many and a liaison to those who wouldn’t normally come to church but is drawn through her life. She has helped many hurting women come to grips with whose they are, help them pick up the pieces, and live a very successful life. Her life continues to remind women that only what you do for Christ will last.
